Following the announcement of Reels API for Facebook, today we are introducing Reels metrics to the Video Insights API. We have heard feedback from our developer community about the value of including Reels metrics in the API experience. We are excited to announce this addition.
Interested developers can obtain and analyze the following Reels performance metrics for a Facebook Page: plays, post reach, average minutes viewed, number of reactions, comments and shares, and minutes viewed. The API is designed to return these values for each individual video over the lifetime of the content.
This API enhancement will be available for the current version, and all previous versions of the Graph API. Reels insights will become automatically available for developers who already have access to the applicable APIs. You will not need to put your app through additional App Review, as long as your app has already been approved (check under app review section for each app) for the appropriate permission access levels.
For additional details and best practices on insights APIs, check out the getting started with page insights blog post, where the same principles apply.
