Conversions API Gateway: Domain Setup in AWS App Runner

Domain Setup Option Selection

After connecting a Meta business portfolio, you will be directed to the Domain management page, or you can navigate to the page using the left sidebar under Settings.

On this page, you’ll be able to choose whether to use your own DNS provider, AWS App Runner or Cloudflare.

If you anticipate less than 3 domains will be set up on your Conversions API Gateway account, AWS App Runner is recommended.

If you anticipate supporting more domains, Cloudflare has the capacity to support more domains.

If you are unsure, it is recommended that you select AWS Certificate Manager. Once you choose AWS Certificate Manager, you will not be able to select Cloudflare as a provider.

Option A: Set Up Domain Using App Runner Load Balancer

  • Choose AWS App Runner setup method. Click Get started under the option you’d like to select.
  • Choose the data routing domain (required) and web access domain (required), and click Continue.

  • Confirm the domain you entered. Make sure you have control of the domains.

  • Set DNS records in your DNS service (for example, Amazon route 53), and wait for the status to change to Complete.

  • Wait until the domains are active.

Option B: Set Up Domain Using Cloudflare

Prerequisites

  1. Cloudflare paid account (See details)
  2. A domain registered in your Cloudflare account

To choose Cloudflare, you need a one-time domain registration and a paid Cloudflare account for the domain setup.

Cloudflare domain setup to support multiple accounts

  • Choose a Cloudflare setup method. It’s recommended that you select the option to register a new domain and use it with Cloudflare. Click Get started under the option you’d like to select.

  • On the next page, you’ll find instructions for how to proceed on Cloudflare, depending on your selected setup method.

  • Follow the instructions to configure your Cloudflare API, and provide the token to start your DNS setup.

  • Then, add a domain for your Signals Gateway system, and click Continue.

There will be a wait time of approximately 30 minutes to 2 hours while the domain setup is processing. While this processing is taking place, you can leave this page without disrupting the process. When domain setup is finished, you will be able to check the data routing domain and web access domain.

Domain Setup for Hosted Accounts

  • Wait until the host domain setup is complete, and then navigate to Data routing using the left sidebar.

Option A: If Your Host Account Domains Are Set Up by App Runner Load Balancer

  • Click Get started and input the account domain.

  • Confirm the data routing domain for the account.

  • Set DNS records in your DNS service (for example, Amazon route 53), and wait for the status to change to Complete.

  • Wait until the domains are active.

Option B: If Your Host Account Domains Are Set Up by Cloudflare

Prerequisites

  1. Finish host account domain setup
  2. Create a DNS record “ [tenant domain] CNAME [agency data routing domain]
  • Click Get started and input the account domain. Note: You must first create DNS records for this domain in your domain provider settings (for example, Route53, Godaddy).

  • Click Continue and wait for approximately 30 minutes to 2 hours. After this time, the hosted tenant domain setup process should be complete.
