You can create custom dashboards to display post feeds and trend charts based on selected keywords or producers. Dashboards are powered by the public content dataset.
Start by selecting Dashboards in the left menu bar, then click the Create dashboard button. Next, give the dashboard a name. The name displays on your Dashboards page to help you locate and sort the dashboards you created. The name also appears with the dashboard if you share access with other people. Each dashboard can have up to 5 sections and each section can have 3 columns so you can easily organize and compare data.
After creating the dashboard, you can then name the first section or start setting up columns.
To name the section, click the dropdown menu in the Section 1 tab and select Rename. Enter the name to use for this section and click Apply.
To configure a column, click Set up in the column card. Enter a column name and specify Facebook, Instagram or Threads. Click Apply.
Choose default values for the supported filtering options, including at least one keyword or producer. For Facebook, producers include public Pages, groups, events and eligible profiles. For Instagram, producers include public business, creator and personal accounts. You can refine the data when viewing the dashboard, but you must return to edit mode to change the default settings. Click Apply to finish setting up the column. To set up more columns in the dashboard, repeat these steps for columns 2 and 3. Otherwise, click Publish to finish creating the dashboard.
To add more sections to the dashboard, click Add section and repeat the process you followed to create the first section. To delete a section, click to expand the dropdown menu by the section name and then select Delete. Each dashboard is required to have at least 1 section, so you cannot remove the last remaining section.
You can create a dashboard based on the parameters of one of your existing saved searches. Start by selecting Dashboards in the left menu bar, then click the arrow by Create dashboard to display a dropdown menu. Choose the option to create From saved search. Next give the dashboard a name and select which of your saved searches you’d like to use to create the dashboard. The search terms and filters applied to the saved search will be used to set up the dashboard. After you’ve created the dashboard, it will open in edit mode to allow you to modify the default filtering options copied from the saved search.
You can also create a column in an existing dashboard with a saved search.
Updates to the dashboard will not impact the criteria applied to the saved search. Updates to the saved search made after the dashboard or column is created will not apply to the dashboard.
You can create a dashboard from one of your existing producer lists. Start by selecting Dashboards in the left menu bar, then click the arrow by Create dashboard to display a dropdown menu. Choose the option to create From producer list. Next give the dashboard a name and select which of your producer lists you’d like to use to create the dashboard. After you’ve created the dashboard, it will open in edit mode to allow you to modify the default filtering options.
Note that the list is flattened when added to a dashboard, so the individual producer names are listed in the producers filter instead of the name of the list. You can add and remove producers from the dashboard without impacting the producer list itself.
You can also create a column in an existing dashboard with a saved producer list.
Updates to the producer list made after the dashboard or column is created will not apply to the dashboard.
Once you have created and published a dashboard, it will appear in your Dashboards tab. Select a dashboard to view. You will see a trend chart and post feed in each of the columns you have set up. You can further refine the display by applying filters or sort options.
Filters applied in this view do not impact the default settings. If you leave the dashboard and reopen it, you must select the filters again.
You can edit columns, change the default settings, and add more columns or sections by clicking Edit dashboard.
Once in edit mode, click the Edit link by the column name to make changes. You’ll see an Unpublished changes indicator at the top of the page if you have draft changes. Click Publish to ensure your edits are maintained.
When viewing a dashboard, click Share at the top of the page to manage access. By default, a dashboard is only available to you as the creator, but you can choose to share it with others who have the same type of Meta Content Library user account as you. For example, researchers can share with others who have researcher accounts and fact-checkers can share with others who have fact-checker accounts. They can view your dashboard and apply different filters, but they cannot make changes to the default settings.
You can copy dashboards you’ve created and dashboards that have been shared with you. Start by selecting Dashboards in the left menu bar, and then locate the dashboard you would like to copy. Click the three dots menu icon and select Make a copy. You can also create a duplicate when viewing a dashboard by clicking the Make a copy button. You’ll be prompted to enter a name for the copy. After you’ve named the new copy, it will open in edit mode to allow you to make updates.
Updates to the copy of the dashboard will not impact the original dashboard. Updates to the original dashboard made after the dashboard is copied will not apply to the copied dashboard.
You can turn on automatic refresh for your dashboards if you’d like the page to reload after a set time limit. When viewing a dashboard, click the Auto-refresh menu and select your preferred frequency for updating the dashboard page data. You can choose intervals of 30 seconds, 1 minute or 5 minutes. You can also keep auto-refresh turned off if you prefer to manually reload the page. Note that each page refresh counts towards your query budget.
