Commerce platform partner integrations glossary of terms.

A

App - A collection of capabilities that your third-party software is granted access to on Meta’s systems. The type of your app determines which Meta products and APIs are available to your app.

B

Business - Main account that represents a seller’s business with Facebook. The business owns all of the assets described below that collectively form a seller’s commerce presence. It is represented by the Business object in the API.

C

Catalog - A container for product listings used in seller’s shops. A commerce account is connected to a catalog owned under the same business. Removing the catalog from the business will delete the associated commerce account. You can find the IDs of these assets in Business Manager and Commerce Manager. You can also retrieve the IDs and troubleshoot the setup via the API.

Commerce Account - Represents the seller’s commerce settings and hosts data about seller’s commerce activities. It is represented by the CommerceMerchantSettings object in the API.

Commerce Partner - A type of Meta Business Partner who specialize in ecommerce services and platforms such as website platforms and feed platforms that enable other sellers/businesses to sell online.

Endpoint - Typically refers to both nodes and edges in the Graph API.

F

Facebook Page - A product that lets people, public figures, businesses, brands, organizations, and non-profits create a presence on Facebook and connect with the Facebook community. A commerce account is backed by one or more Facebook Pages owned under the same business. The Facebook Page can be activated as a sales channel.

G

Graph API - A representation of the information on Facebook, named after the idea of a "social graph". It’s composed of nodes, edges, and fields. Nodes are used to get data about a specific object, edges are used to get collections of objects on a single object, and fields are used to get data about a single object or each object in a collection.

I

Instagram Account - A product that allows people to create and share photos and videos with followers as well as follow people and accounts they're interested in. A commerce account can be connected to a number of Instagram accounts owned under the same business. These Instagram accounts can be activated as sales channels.

O

Order Management System (OMS) - Software used by sellers as the source of truth for managing the life cycle of orders potentially across multiple sales channels.
