Chukong Technologies Adds Facebook Support to Cocos2d-x

27 Oktober 2014OlehBo Zhang

Many game developers we work with tell us they want to rapidly develop and deploy their games without reinventing the wheel. That's why we decided to invest in game engines that help developers quickly develop and port their games across platforms, easily. Today, Chukong Technologies, in collaboration with Facebook, updated the Cocos2d-x game engine to include full Facebook platform integration.

Another way we support developers that opt to use game engines is through our Facebook SDK for Unity, released over a year ago to help core game developers bring their Unity games cross-platform. Since then, we have made it even easier to integrate with Unity by providing unified function and return call values across platforms and by increasing compatibility for apps using multiple plugins. As a result, there are now over 5,000 games using the Facebook SDK for Unity across Facebook and mobile to date.

Now, with the addition of Facebook functionality to Cocos2d-x and Cocos2d-JS, developers have another game engine available to them that supports integrations with Facebook and simple cross-platform development.

Cocos2d-x is an open source, cross-platform game engine that is widely adopted by developers all over the world, powering many of the top-grossing games on the Apple App Store and Google Play. With these updates it becomes much easier for Cocos2d-x developers to integrate Facebook functionality into their games, as well as port their mobile games to Facebook.

Big Fish, a producer and distributor of casual games, started using Cocos2d-JS to update two of its top-grossing and most popular games -- Fairway Solitaire and Big Fish Casino — and plans to use the game engine for upcoming titles with cross-platform launches on iOS, Android, and Facebook.

As always, we will continue to look for ways to invest in partnerships that yield useful tools for our developer community, as well as improve our current implementations with Unity and Cocos2d-x. Please see our documentation on the Cocos2d-x updates to get started today.
