Platform Updates: Operation Developer Love

December 19, 2012ByNoorin Ladhani

Since last Wednesday's update, we announced Facebook SDK 3.0 for Android and Native Login, New Features to Mobile App Install Ads, and published a spotlight on SoundCloud

New Page metrics for benchmarking available via API

We’re starting to roll out like count and people talking about this (PTAT) metrics for all Pages via the Graph API and FQL. As we announced in October, this enables marketers to benchmark their own fans and PTAT in a given country against other Pages and monitor how country-level like counts change over time. For example, now a European car company can see how many people are talking about their brand versus a competitor’s brand on a country-by-country basis. You’ll be able to access this via the new ‘global_brand_like_count’ and ‘global_brand_talking_about_count’ fields on the Insights object.

Upcoming breaking changes

As announced in October, the following changes will go into effect on January 9th, 2013:

  • Removing unused splash_screen_url and gamebar_image_url properties
  • Removing Dashboard REST API methods
  • Using canonical URLs when fetching data using link_stat table

Check out the Developer Roadmap for all updates on breaking changes.
