Facebook Developer World HACK 2012

By James Pearce

Today we're announcing the Facebook Developer World HACK 2012, a series of events we're hosting around the world throughout August and September. Build an amazing Facebook app at the HACK and you could win yourself a trip to San Francisco.

After the success of our Mobile HACK Roadshow back in March, and our f8 events last year, we were inspired to hit the road again. The World HACK series is designed to bring the Facebook Developer story to a new set of cities - homes to some of the world's most vibrant and fast-growing developer communities.

The World HACK events are each one-day long, and will take place in 12 cities on the following dates:

The events are open to coders of all kinds, whether you've developed with Facebook before, have an existing app that you'd like to distribute on Facebook, or simply have a great idea for a social app that you hope to bring to life.

Each day begins with a series of technical sessions designed to get you working with Facebook as quick as possible. We'll discuss Open Graph, iOS, Android, mobile web, and how to build successful social games.

And we know you're there to code. We'll quickly dive into demos and samples to give you everything you need to get started on the HACK itself: an eight hour competition where you get to demonstrate your newfound skills, with hands-on help from Facebook engineers. We finish with team demos and awards for the best apps and projects worked on throughout the day.

This year, to recognize that talented developer communities we meet around the globe, the best team we see on each continent will also win a trip to San Francisco, to visit our campus and meet the Facebook team.

These events always sell out quickly, so make sure to register your interest for the World HACK in your city as soon as you can. There is a nominal fee for attendance.

We can't wait to find out what the world's best hackers can build. We'll see you out there!
