Per our December 5, 2017 email and announcement, advertisers who run ads targeted at specific detailed targeting options, such as multicultural affinity segments, may receive an in-product notification that requires acknowledgment of our anti-discrimination policies.
As a result of this update, your ads may be disapproved and advertisers will be prompted with an in-product notification if you:
In this scenario, we recommend the following:
Note: It can take additional time for ads to get reviewed after an ad account administrator acknowledges compliance with anti-discrimination policies. (Ads remain in disapproved status during the review.) Ads promoting housing, employment or credit opportunities can't be run using multicultural affinity targeting. For these type of ads, advertisers need to remove multicultural affinity segments from targeting specifications.
To take action on these ads, all advertisers can follow these steps:
To better detect such scenarios via the API, we recommend setting up a webhook for ads with "effective_status"
: "DISAPPROVED"
using Ad Rules Engine. If a disapproved ad has the "ad_review_feedback"
field set to the following value, you can advise users to follow the steps listed above:
"global": {
"HOUSING_OR_CREDIT": "It looks like your ad may be for housing, employment or credit opportunities, or you've included a multicultural affinity segment in your audience. If so, you'll need to certify that you'll comply with our policy prohibiting discrimination and with applicable anti-discrimination laws. Once you certify, we'll review any disapproved ads from the past three days. Typically, this review takes a few minutes. Approved ads will go live. You can visit Ads Manager to manage ad delivery."}
If your ad targets multicultural affinity segments while promoting housing, employment or credit opportunities, its
"ad_review_feedback"
field is set to:
"global": {
"HOUSING_OR_CREDIT_WITH_AFFINITY": "It looks like your ad may be for housing, employment or credit opportunities. These types of ads can't be run using multicultural affinity targeting. How to fix: Remove multicultural affinity targeting from your ad. If you believe your ad isn't for a housing, employment or credit opportunity, you can appeal this disapproval."}
In addition to endpoints outlined in the December 5, 2017 email and announcement, we introduced a new is_exclusion (bool)
parameter. Use this parameter to verify if a targeting object is eligible for targeting exclusion on the following API endpoints:
/search
for types: (classes: interests, behaviors): adinterestvalid
, adTargetingCategory
, adinterestcategory
, adinterestcategory
, adworkemployer
, adeducationmajor
, adeducationschool
, adworkposition
