Submission

After you have submitted your assessment, you can visit the overview page to find the latest update regarding your assessment. As a reminder, it could take 10-15 business days before you hear back from reviewers. Immediately after your submission, the page will look as follows:

You will be informed about any changes in status, required actions, or other relevant information through an alert in your inbox (developer alert), the overview page and an email to the app’s listed contact email address.

Best Practices for Submissions

  1. Remember to refer to the relevant resources (ex: Data Protection and Platform Terms Glossary) when responding to issues.
  2. Be sure to provide all copies of documents when responding to requests for information.
  3. Make sure your documentary evidence is legible and easy to read.
  4. If you choose to upload documentary evidence in non-English languages, please make sure to either replace or supplement with an English language translation or English annotations to enable evaluation of the evidence.
    a. N.B. Provision of evidence and/or documentation in non-English languages only are not acceptable responses, and may result in loss of platform access.
  5. Be sure to verify all components of your submission – including review of pre-filled information alongside making reference back to the most recent response(s) provided under Required Action alerts, and updating your response(s) for accuracy and completeness.

Missed Deadline

Failure to submit data access renewal by the required deadline will result in a non-response violation of Platform Term 7.e.i.1 that results in the app being frozen. You will not receive a warning period for a missed deadline.

No Issues

If Meta finds that there are no issues, violations, or needs for more information, then your evaluation will be completed. You will receive a developer alert informing you accordingly. Once you receive the notification, your app’s Basic Settings page and data access renewal overview page will also be updated to show that your annual assessment has been completed. You will be asked to complete data access renewal again next year.

Violations

If there are issues within your submission, you will be informed via developer alert and on your app’s required actions page. The violations can be identified in several sections of the assessment and will be detailed in your developer alert and required actions page.

Details for your violation will be outlined once you click ‘Respond now’ on your required actions dashboard. Upon doing so, you will be taken to a page to resolve your violation. This page will list the Platform Terms and details relevant to your violation and recommended changes will be provided so you can continue to retain access to the platform and/or related permissions.

If applicable, the page will also list a deadline to respond to a violation, which would be between 5 and 20 business days. It is recommended that you carefully review the Platform Term displayed and consult with your legal, policy, and data handling experts within your organization for guidance. Once you submit your response you will not be able to edit it.

If your submission continues to violate the Meta Platform Terms or Developer Policies, you will receive a Violation response decision message. App admins can view feedback from the reviewer and respond again by the deadline indicated in the message. Failure to respond may result in disruptions to the app including deactivation.

Request for More Information

Similar to violations, you may also receive a request for information via developer alert and your required actions dashboard. This can occur if the answers you initially provided were not sufficient enough for our reviewers to reach a decision regarding your assessment. A request for information alert could mean your response was incomplete. This will be indicated in your required actions dashboard. You will have 15 business days to respond to a request for information alert and you will also be able to update information from relevant sections during this period.

To provide your complete response click ‘respond now’ on your required actions dashboard. This will take you to a new page that will highlight the area of the assessment in which you need to revise your response so that it is fully complete and sufficient. Feedback will also be provided from the reviewer so you know what to provide. Depending on your answers, it may take several rounds before the issue is resolved.

App Restricted

If you do not respond to or dispute a violation before the deadline, your app will be restricted. This means that it will no longer have access to APIs. The developer will be notified when the app is restricted and may go through the appeal process to regain access.

Please note, responding to a violation does not guarantee that the violation is resolved. Be sure to check your messages or required actions dashboard to see the status of the violation.
