Introducing new features for the Threads API

2024年10月1日发布者:Dil Ibrahim, Director, Business Engineering

We want to make Threads the place where people, especially creators and businesses, connect with new and existing audiences around their interests and experiences. In June, we launched the Threads API to enable developers to build their own unique integrations, and help creators and brands manage their Threads presence at scale, easily sharing inspiring content with their communities.

Today, we are happy to introduce improvements to the API enabling richer integrations and bring Threads to the Postman API platform to help developers get started.

Get more out of the Threads API

We are launching several new features and improvements to the Threads API. Here's what's new:

  • We are introducing webhooks for Threads: developers can now receive real-time notifications when reply events occur on the platform. We are exploring ways to support more event types in the future.
  • Posts created via the API can now contain up to 20 photos or videos in a carousel.
  • We are making it easier to attach a link to your posts, with a new parameter allowing for a separate link attachment that doesn't count towards the character limit.
  • To aid users who are visually impaired, people can now use Threads API to set the accessibility label or alt text for each image or video that is attached to your post.
  • Finally, for users who have turned on sharing to the fediverse, posts created using the Threads API will also be shared to the fediverse.

Our open-source sample app was updated to reflect these changes. The sample app serves as a practical guide, enabling you to better understand the API and troubleshoot any issues by referencing a working implementation. It simplifies the integration process, accelerates development time, and ensures a smoother implementation experience for developers.

Get started in minutes with Postman

We published a new Threads API collection on the Postman API Platform. Postman is a web-based platform for developers to design, build, test, and iterate on their APIs, with more than 30 million registered users.

The Threads API Postman Collection gives you access to API documentation, calls, preset environment variables, and guides you through your initial test requests. It is a user-friendly environment for integrating Threads features seamlessly.

Start your journey by going to the Threads API collection today. You can also find the latest updates on Meta’s Postman public workspace.
