An Update to Section 10 of our Platform Terms

2022年7月11日發佈者:Allison Hendrix

We’ve made a number of changes to further safeguard people’s data, including: improvements to App Review, updates to our Platform Terms and Developer Policies, and launching Data Use Checkup and the Data Protection Assessment.

Today we are announcing an update to Section 10 of the Meta Platform Terms that amends our agreement in respect of the Meta-wide Technical and Organizational Measures (TOMs). The TOMs provide a description of the technical and organizational security measures that Meta considers appropriate to protect the security of data. This update impacts developers and/or apps that transfer personal data of individuals in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) to foreign countries, including the United States, that have not been deemed adequate under European data protection law. We’ve updated Section 10 to ensure ongoing compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for Meta and developers. This update to the Platform Terms goes into effect on October 11, 2022.

Next Steps

There is no action required in order to agree to the updated Platform Terms and Developer Policies. Developers that process and transfer European Union personal data outside of the EEA should review the TOMs in their entirety to determine the best approach to achieve the updated security requirements, and ensure compliance before October 11, 2022.

This update is necessary to ensure ongoing compliance with the GDPR. We are not adding to or amending any other terms within the Platform Terms or our existing agreement with you.

Our commitment to privacy and data security is a responsibility that we share with all developers in our ecosystem and, as always, we’re grateful for your partnership.
