F8 2019 Hackathon Winners Announced

May 16, 2019ByChukwuemeka Afigbo

This year, we continued our tradition of hosting a Hackathon at F8 and were excited to invite developers and subject matter experts from around the globe to build on the latest technology and unlock the potential of Facebook's family of apps.

Participants from nearly 50 countries gathered for two days to build with Facebook's developer products and help create social technologies that enable the best of what people can do together. Bonus prizes were awarded to participants who created the best solutions addressing four of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Promoting quality education (SDG 4), promoting decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), promoting industry, innovation and infrastructure (SDG 9), promoting sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11)

8 finalist teams were selected to pitch their solutions to a live F8 audience, where F8 attendees then voted for their favorite solution and a panel of judges selected the winning teams.
