Today, developers, creators and business leaders from around the world gathered in San Jose, California to participate in F8, our annual developer conference, to experience Facebook's new breakthrough technology and explore more ways to bring the world closer together. If you couldn't join us in person, or watch online, don't worry, we got you covered — here are some of the top developer stories from the first day of F8 2018:
We're re-opening app reviews. We made several updates to the review process to improve the experience for developers and support stronger enforcement of our Platform Policies. For example, one of the updates includes a new business verification process for certain API permissions. We're also requiring companies that build with the Facebook platform for the purpose of serving other businesses to sign a tech provider agreement that restricts the usage of data outside of specific customer needs. Our primary focus is building an ecosystem that creates value for people, so we're reopening app review with a heightened level of expectations as we're doubling down on our commitment to transparency and giving people more control over how their data is shared.
Additionally, earlier today we introduced Graph API v3.0 with several improvements, including among them updates for Places Graph. You can read more here about the new app review process as well as details about the Graph API 3.0 announcement.
We're updating Facebook Login to restrict access to data, improve how the token experience is handled, enable developers to receive requests from users to delete their data and introducing a new setting in Apps Settings for business integrations. Read more
We're introducing the Facebook Business Solutions SDK. This SDK offers an easier experience with integrations across Facebook products by enabling access to a suite of Facebook APIs, including Business Manager API, Marketing API, Instagram API, and Pages API. Within the SDK you will find many more code samples for scenarios that will help you get up and running easily and quickly so that you can focus on growing and scaling your business. Read more
