Gaius Networks

Bringing mobile content to companies and users in emerging markets

Their Story

From academia to startup

Emerging markets represent a large percentage of the world population and yet organizations in many of these markets are struggling to have an online presence. Gaius Networks was founded by three New York University researchers with a vision of enabling highly localized content relevant to users in the last mile.

With such an ambitious goal, co-founders Arjuna Sathiaseelan, Lakshminarayanan Subramanian, and Yasir Zaki quickly understood they needed industry introductions and expertise to realize the platform’s full potential. Facebook Accelerator London, an intensive 12 week program, allowed the participants from Gaius Networks to work closely with our connectivity team, industry experts, and potential partners to unlock years’ worth of information and insights.

A key highlight of the program was time spent with a large mobile operator helping Gaius Networks identify and address gaps in their platform offering. Through the program, they ran several test pilots in many emerging markets, allowing the startup to better prepare for scaled real-world experience. Since completing the program, the founders have signed contracts with industry partners and have increased its user base to 100,000+ users.
