Data access renewal consolidates several pre-existing processes into one streamlined assessment. Currently, the assessment is broken down into the following sections: business connection, allowed usage, data handling, data protection, and reviewer instructions. Depending on factors such as the type and quality of data your app can access, you may be required to complete some or all of these sections.

Business connection

Meta verifies that the organization associated with your app is a registered business through Business Connection. This part of data access renewal will ask you to select an organization to connect to your app. If your organization is not verified, you will need to submit Business Verification from the Business Suite.

Allowed usage

During the allowed usage section of data access renewal, you will be asked to certify that your app is using all advanced access permissions, features, and APIs within their allowed usage. Any features that are not needed should be removed during this step.

Data handling

The data handling questions are designed to validate that personal data received from Meta will be processed and transferred securely and in compliance with Meta’s Platform Terms and Developer Policies. We recommend you consult legal, policy, and data handling experts when answering these questions.

Data protection

Some developers will be required to fill out the data protection section of the assessment. These questions are designed to determine whether you comply with our Platform Terms relevant to your use of, sharing, and protecting Platform Data. These questions may cover app purpose, data sharing, data deletion and data security requirements.

Reviewer instructions

The last section of data access renewal is reviewer instructions. In this section, you will be asked to provide information to ensure that our reviewers can access the app and review all of its functionality. Examples of information may include: specifics on which locations your app is accessible, provision of test credentials and/or payment codes to enable app access.

You must also provide a link to a valid privacy policy page and complete the ongoing review form for each platform your app is on.
