Developer Policy 3.2

"Only incentivize a person to log into your App, enter a promotion on your App’s Page or on Instagram, check-in at a place, or to use Messenger to communicate with your business. Don’t incentivize other actions."

The following serves as supplementary material to complement the official Developer Policies. To ensure that you keep your apps policy compliant, please review the Developer Policy for guidance.

DO

Do incentivize or reward people for using Facebook to login to your app.

Do incentivize or reward people for checking into your location.

Do use referral based rewards to help bring awareness and reengagement with your game. For example, you can give free in-game items or offer discounts on game items for every friend that installs your game through a person’s post.

DON'T

Don't incentivize people to post content on Facebook, or give the impression that posting to Facebook will be rewarded. For example, don’t give people anything in exchange for them posting to Facebook (i.e. don’t give or promise virtual goods, achievements, coupons, discounts, access to content or extra entries in a promotion, if they post content to Facebook).

Don’t incentivize people to like a Page, or give the impression that liking a Page will be rewarded. See examples above and below.

DO EXAMPLES:

Example 1: This app does not violate policy by offering people free Wi-Fi internet if they login with Facebook.

Example 2: This business does not violate policy by rewarding people with popcorn if they check in on Facebook.

DON'T EXAMPLES:

Example 1: This app violates policy by giving people a chance to win $50,000 if they post on Facebook.

Example 2: This app violates policy by promising to give people a gift of milk if they post on Facebook.

Example 3: This game violates policy by offering to give people 200,000 in-game coins in exchange for liking the game’s Page.

Example 4: The example on the left violates policy because the app prevents people from watching a video unless they post a link to the video on Facebook. The example on the right violates policy by giving people points for every friend they invite to the app.
