Understanding Ad Performance Using Facebook Reporting Tools

Ads Manager shows you how your advertising is helping you achieve your business goals across Facebook, Instagram and Audience Network. Use our tools to analyze your campaign results and learn more about your audience, your product sales, your campaign's reach and much more. With this data, you can make more informed decisions when building your campaigns and ultimately improve your results.

Seeing Results at the Account Level

By viewing your results at the account level, you can get a high-level picture of how all your campaigns are doing. Under the account overview tab, we aggregate all your results - all campaigns, ad sets and ads - and provide a summary of your advertising activity. You can use this information to understand your campaigns' performance over time or identify trends around a specific time of year.

To find the Account Overview section, go to Ads Manager and then click Account Overview.

Once you have selected the date you want to see in your reports, you can:

  1. Customize the metrics you want to see. There are four sections with metrics you can adjust (such as reach, impressions, amount spent and link clicks). To change the metric you see in a section, click the icon next to the metric name and choose a metric from the list.
  2. Compare performance across different date ranges. Click on the date range drop-down menu and select Compare and choose the dates that you want to compare.
  3. Use charts to analyze your results. Charts can help you understand how your campaigns performed over time and analyze trends. Hover over the charts to see more information on your campaigns.

You can use this information to understand the best audience for your ad and improve targeting for future campaigns. Click Breakdown and select a breakdown from the three categories: By Delivery, By Action and By Time.
