OG:Image could not be processed as an image. It may be corrupted or may have an invalid format.

All of the sudden clients started having incorrect images showing for their Facebook posts. When we run the URLs through the facbook debugger, we're receiving this error message even though valid images are used for the og:image tag. I'm seeing it happen across multiple websites.

Corrupted Image Provided og:image URL, https://faithconnector.s3.amazonaws.com/3322/images/thumbs/announcements/37488198_10155892158683924_2420206705427087360_o_10155892158673924.jpg?t=261737 could not be processed as an image. It may be corrupted or may have an invalid format.

Sorry you're experiencing the same issue still. Apparently Fakebook does not care to address this bug. They are doing this intentionally to minimize off platform content. Og Images also provided a way to allow uncensored graphics. Specifically political content that they have been instructed to block.

I have the same problem, some images load and others do not, and there are no different meta between the images, I have tried other debuggers and they correctly detect the meta, even on other platforms like X(twitter) or Whatsapp they load the image meta correctly. The problem is on Facebook.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND I SOLVED IT WITH A VERY SIMPLE METHOD. I JUST RENAME THE UPLOADED IMAGE TO NUMERIC FIGURES. EXAMPLE: OLD IMAGE NAME IS (ANY NAME) TO (123456) . I NOTICED THAT WHEN UPLOADED IMAGES NAME WERE IN ARABIC, THE FACEBOOKE DEBUGGER ALWAYS GIVES AN ERROR , BUT ONLY WHEN I CHANGED TO NUMERIC CHARACTERS WITH OR WITHOUT ADDITIONAL ENGLISH WORDS EVERY THINGS WERE FINE

FINALLY SOLVED 😀

Glad your issue has been resolved. Obviously FB does not like arabic. But that is not the thread topic and the og image settings are still causing issues, regardless of file name or language preference.

This worked like a charm! Really thank you.

We have the same issue. When POST-ing a comment with GIFs (which I verified to give the Corrupted Image error) one can only see a static image with a link to the actual GIF

I noticed that I had some empty og:image:height and og:image:width tags on some of my pages. I updated those pages with values and now I'm seeing images being pulled in.

So EITHER Facebook quickly fixed something, OR they put something in place that didn't like empty image dimensions. The few tests I've run seem to show images again.

I don't have empty image dimensions on my client site but still its not workig.

I concur. This issue has been going on way too long. Facebook developers rely on these og: images to conduct campaigns and we have ceased all advertising on the platform until this issue is resolved. Our team has run an extensive diagnostic review of all meta tags associated with Facebook and conclude that it likely an overlap from their increase in censorship of political content.

Additional research has led our team to conclude that og:images were being used to bypass fakebook censors and allow meme images that the gestapo find unfavorable to be viewed on the platform through outbound post links. These were predominately political in nature and an apparent effort to silence opposing viewpoints, facts and opinions which may have again been ordered by the current administration. Unwittingly, the changing of the algorithm has affected many other content developers outside their target audience. Our tests have led to page throttling, limited reach and ad management cancelation. Be aware and proceed cautiously.

I have conducted some tests and found a correlation with the 'og:image' URL. An error occurs when the URL path contains 'resource'.

Error: https://www.tpoc.com.tw/resource/test.jpg?v=2 https://www.tpoc.com.tw/resources/test.jpg?v=2

Normal: https://www.tpoc.com.tw/tmp/test.jpg?v=2 https://www.tpoc.com.tw/testtest/test.jpg?v=2

Same here, started around middle of January. I tested Adam's solution above to include og:image:width and og:image:height and in my case it did not make a difference.

In the 4 weeks since it's been broken, I had reused an image for a new post that before this situation was completely fine, and it too gave the same error as new images. So it's not the images, not the server and in my case not the meta tags.

Definitely a FB issue, and annoying.

This suddenly started happening here a week ago as well. No workarounds. Pasting the direct link to the image in the debugger shows the right image, so Facebook is able to access it.

I tried my link through a different debugger (https://debug.iframely.com/) and it's pulling through the meta tags correctly. but still not sharing on FB right... this is really annoying and frustrating!
