Hi there, This is regarding my news portal. The og:image was working fine till yesterday, but today morning, it stopped rendering image. and the error says, "Provided og:image URL encountered an unknown error."
Same here in Italy since yesterday.
Same here UK (also a news website)
Are you using litespeed cache plugin? If so, try disable guest optimization and purge all. Check whether the image came out in share debugger. Mine work fine

I'm not using WordPress. I'm using Invision Power Board and having exact same issue.
Is this across Meta? Thumbnails on Threads aren't working for me either.
Now fixed (for me, anyway!)

No. no Litespeed here
No litespeed plugin and no wordpress. The issue is the same.
Cloudflare perhaps?
My website doesn't used Cloudflare and same issue.
It's not just wordpress, other scripts are having same issue.
Same on Joomla. It seems like a bug with OG
