Platform Updates: Requests, Profile Tabs and More

October 8, 2010ByFran Larkin

Here is a round up of recent Platform updates:

Read and Revoke Requests
At our recent event for Game developers, we announced new Graph API calls to read a user’s existing requests and delete all of a user’s requests. This new functionality allows developers to build flows that let users address all of their pending requests without returning to the requests page. These features are now available to all developers and documented on the developer site.

Applications Tabs on Profiles
As we previously announced, we are removing application tabs from user profiles. Starting this Wednesday, users will no longer be able to add them. We will notify users of this change on their tabs, and existing application tabs will be removed starting November 3rd. This change will not impact applications on Page tabs.

Better Tracking for Plugins
Similar to the tracking functionality we announced for the Like Button, we now support the "ref" attribute for the Recommendations and Activity Feed plugins to help you A/B test placements and track performance. As documented, developers can add this as an attribute to XFBML tags or a parameter to iframe plugins, and we will pass the value back as a "fb_ref" parameter in the referrer URL.

Terms of Service Field
Based on feedback from developers, we have re-enabled the terms of service URL within the Developer Application. When you supply a URL, we will link to your terms of service in the permissions dialog for your application.
