App Defense Alliance Releases New Data Security Standards

2024년 10월 17일제작:Alex Duff

Last year, we announced that Meta joined Google and Microsoft as founding members of the App Defense Alliance. As a community that now includes over 30 industry leaders, we've reached a significant milestone in our mission to elevate the security of app ecosystems through industry-wide adoption of best practices and guidelines.

Today, we're pleased to share that the Alliance has released its first set of Application Security Assessment (ASA) standards:

  1. Mobile App Specification: This standard provides a comprehensive framework for developing secure mobile apps, covering aspects such as data storage, authentication, and network communication.
  2. Web App Specification: This standard outlines guidelines for building secure web applications, including secure coding practices, input validation, and error handling.
  3. Cloud App and Config Specification: This standard offers guidance on securely configuring cloud infrastructure, including identity and access management, network, storage, and compute resources.

These standards are designed to help developers build more secure apps and services, protecting users and their data from emerging threats. We encourage you to explore these resources, which we believe will create efficiency for developers over time as the industry moves to adopt them.

What does this mean for you?

This does not change how you engage with Meta today and does not signify a change to existing data security programs such as Data Access Renewal . The release of the Alliance’s Application Security Assessment standards is another step toward encouraging adoption of sensible app security practices across the industry and aligns with our dedication to safe data handling.

By familiarizing yourself with these standards, you'll be better equipped to develop secure apps and services that align with industry best practices, making a safer, more sustainable app ecosystem for everyone.

We appreciate your continued support and look forward to sharing more updates on the App Defense Alliance's work. To learn more about the Alliance and its standards, please visit: https://www.appdefensealliance.org/
