Platform Updates: Facebook SDK for iOS 7 and Promotions Updates

August 28, 2013ByJason Clark

This week, we wanted to give you a quick heads-up on how we are approaching iOS 7 for the Facebook SDK. We also updated our Promotions Guidelines to remove the requirement that promotions on Facebook may only be administered within apps.

Upgrade Your Facebook SDK for iOS 7

As the Gold Master release of iOS 7 approaches, we've been focused on fixing bugs as we find them rather than waiting for the release. While iOS 7 still remains a moving target, our goal is to give you the best bits as early as possible.

If you are updating your app for iOS 7, we recommend that you also upgrade to our Facebook SDK 3.7.1 or newer. As of 3.7.1, we've fixed our last known iOS 7 bug in the library portion of the SDK. While we still have a few bugs in the samples, these should not impact your apps. You can download our latest Facebook iOS SDK here.

Promotions and Platform Policy Updates

We updated our Promotions Guidelines by removing the requirement that promotions on Facebook may only be administered within apps. With the change, promotions may now be administered on Page Timelines and in apps on Facebook, but not on personal Timelines. In addition, we’ve updated our Platform Policies to allow developers to use data received from us in advertisements, but only with explicit consent from that person. Learn more here or watch a video on the changes.
